On Monday July 22nd and Tuesday July 23rd, 2019., the “JVCKENWOOD SOLUTION FAIR 2019” was held at AKIBA SQUARE on the 2nd floor of Akihabara UDX. During the exhibition, we introduced various solution methods fully utilizing “visuals,” “audio,” and “radio,” in which we have particular strength, to solve problems experienced by customers. We thank all the visitors that came to visit our booth.
Many visitors came to see the design solution booth of JVCKENWOOD Design Corporation. We presented detailed introduction examples and advanced development using our research in sustainability, Co-Creation, and One stop creation process. This event resulted in a fruitful outcome, as our customers could directly experience with their own eyes and ears our unique efforts conducted by various professional designers and HCD (human-centered deign) experts, and we also received valuable comments and requests from them. A leaflet about our company’s services that was handed out on exhibition day is available here to browse or download.
Research in sustainability
Connect people, society, and nature with “sense & logic”
Introduction of case examples of co-creation activities with local community and co-creative workshops
As our research in sustainability and part of our co-creative activities to activate local communities by using audio, visual, and communication solutions, our company has been engaged in the live streaming service “Forest Notes” which distributes forest sounds via the Internet in real time through microphones placed in forests across Japan.
During this fair, we introduced part of our research to develop live streaming of more realistic high-resolution audio as “Forest Notes Okutama Project.” This project involves a cooperative experiment with “Prime Seat,” the high-resolution streaming service by Internet Initiative Japan Inc. Customers actually experienced the atmosphere of forests in Okutama.
Furthermore, we introduced case examples of our facilitation services by a co-creative workshop conducted at “SPARK,” a facility for co-creative activities located within JVCKENWOOD Design Corporation.
Design activities for automotive businesses
Presentation of optimal HMI design solutions from research and analysis to installation
In design activities for automotive businesses, we presented case examples including the HMI design process, and UX assessment of Take-Over (when shifting from automated driving to manual driving), which is a challenge for future automated-driving environments, as well as co-operative research on lighting design and social experience by using images.
In addition, as a case example of actualization using One stop creation, we demonstrated the process of examination in prototyping using a mass-produced digital meter.
We successfully communicated our initiatives to solve social challenges to many visitors from various industries, not just the automotive industry, who showed interest in our suggestions for in-vehicle infotainment in the coming era of fully-automated driving.

Our challenge for color universal design certification, and dashboard to assist customers with design and AI
In design activities of public service businesses, we presented our endeavor in the process from identification of issues from the viewpoint of customers to actualization of solutions. As an example of a mounting system, visitors simulated red-green colorblindness by using a special device through a GUI on a CUD-certified navigational panel. Furthermore, as an example of the process using backcasting, we presented the process to elicit issues that customers are experiencing, by “visualizing” comprehensive information expressed with a prototype of the futuristic security dashboard designed with a 5-year timespan in mind, and applying such issues to ideas for development.
